DirecTV works much harder at getting new subscribers than they do keeping current ones.
My first beef with them was the introductory rate the first year was good, and I asked how much it would go up when that expired. They said call back, and usually there are some discounts available. I called back at the end of the first year because it went up more than 50%. I did finally get about $25 per month in discounts, but had to call 3 times to get THAT.
I never got a free trial season of ST. My fault really... I subscribed in the spring before they offered it, thinking that if they offered it in the summer they would go ahead and give it to me. Nope. They wouldn't budge. "That's just for new subscribers."
Had a chronic problem for a while with DVR playback corrupting. Called several times. One time the lady said, well... we can wait and see if it happens again or we can send you a new receiver. I said let's try the new receiver, we've ALREADY seen what happens if we wait. It took about six months of calling to get that. It solved it for a while, but started again a few months later. A tech came out that time and said, yeah we've seen that problem a lot on this model receiver. LOL!
Then when I finally called to cancel they of course asked why. I told him cables introductory rate was going to save me a lot of money. He said he wished I had called before I subscribed to them, he could have saved me some money. I told him if he had saved me some money before, I might not have called them. LOL!
I never really liked DirecTV, except I would have liked Sunday Ticket. There's absolutely no way I would have ever paid what they charge for it though. I'm too cheap for that! LOL!
