But the rarest thing I own of Matchbox is the equivalent of a slot car track setup for Matchbox that I got when I was around 7 years old.. The track has slots, and the kit came with stick-on spikes that you stuck to the bottom of Matchbox cars to go in the slot in the track.. Inside the slot you had to feed a really long "spring" that went the entire distance of the track.. one piece of track had a gear in it that intertwined with that spring and made the entire spring rotate through the slot around the track.. the car was in the spring, and the spring went around kind of mimicking a slot car setup..
It wasn't the most reliable setup, but it worked and allowed you to slot car race your favorite Matchbox cars.. Along with my train stuff, its up in my attic, as well.. I doubt it still works - that spring probably got jacked up when I was a kid..
I just looked and have seen a similar setup on ebay, but its not the same setup..
