Maybe we put too much emphasis on kids and electronics being bad. After all youth sports, is increasingly becoming a stressful activity for parents who must balance a working week with all the organized "outdoor" activities kids do now. During the summer my grandson is in soccer and his sister is on the swim team. That means they are out of the house most all weekends and most weekdays for practice, etc. During the winter they both are competitive skiers. So there's no lack of "outdoor" stuff. Sometimes I think they just need to hibernate into their electronic world as an escape from all their practices and meets.
The one "danger" I see in the addictive quality of electronic activities in when it interferes with their education. And yes there is something to be said for eye to eye social interaction as opposed to smart phones, etc.
