Yeah, George can sing his butt off.. no doubt about it. I've never 'truly' been a county fan either.... but I do miss the 'old' country today.
I was about to tell my Bocci Ball team 'that's it, I give up'. Seriously...I don't know if it's my eyes, loss of body control, whatever, I had no idea which direction the ball would roll when I released it. It was sad.... I've always been a good athlete at any sport I tried.. not great but good.... so this year's Bocci season start and my total loss of any coordination had me thinking rocking chair, lap blanket, and soup for every meal.
Then last night... and it all came back..... well, not entirely but I knew there was still some life left in me. Scored almost all our team's s points.... made some of the best shots I've ever made... got cocky and tried 'threading the needle' a few times and DID IT....
And we lost both games.
Came home and thought about it.... how did I return to form? I had bowled a small medicine ball down my home's hallway a few times before heading to the Dante Club... maybe that was it. But no, it wasn't.. it dawned on me why...
I had drank two glasses of wine before the games began, during dinner, in hopes of dulling my sorrow for having become the last kid picked for Dodge Ball... I had never consumed any alcohol at all before any of the other Bocci games the last two years. I am back, it just took a little vino.
Now I have to determine the proper dosage.... two was good, very good... I think maybe 3 might be better? 4 and who knows? Championship? - JamesJM
