Songs I listened to as a kid

These were songs that weren't necessarily from a band a liked but just songs that struck me differently. A few of them had just one or two lines that kind of threw me for a loop. Like "Don't say no, its the end of the world" or "Did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?" These are two striking phrases for an 6 to 9 year old kid. Its like the rest of the song didn't matter. One song was about the end of the world coming and the other was about the most beautiful girl in the world... and this guy knew her!... lol

So I played these songs for my daughter and it affected her the same way. I wonder if there's a compartmentalization thing going on for kids that focus on an absolute or a troubling concern without putting them into context.









A few others were "A Boy Named Sue", "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", "Wildfire", Bad Bad Leroy Brown... These were mainly story-based songs. But to a kid, or at least for me, they were wrought with meaning.
