I had skin cancer (melanoma) on my upper back-shoulder 6 years ago. They cut pretty deep to remove it, but they said it is very unlikely to return.
They biopsied my face in a surprise moment when I was getting a check up a few years later- one minute they do the routine look over and next she says Im worried about this and has a scalpel out on my face. It was just an age spot, but I didn't want to mess around as skin cancer is VERY serious. Actually, she was pretty good and removed the age spot on my check. It was negative, so I am very blessed. Just don't go out in the sun (without a bandaid/suncreen) after a biopsy)- for several weeks.
I coached and played sports a lot when younger and was in the sun constantly....as a kid growing up, nobody talked about sunscreen and I went to the community pool every day-played tennis like you- often without a shirt. Now I wear hats and sunscreen when I mow the lawn or yard work. I still go to Hawaii every year, but rent a cabana and wear those SPF rashguards when I swim in the ocean.
