I was into climbing a lot in my early twenties and I went to Yosemite, although not to climb.
Even so I was wanting to see El Capitan because I'd heard so many stories.
I'd come in from the 'wrong' direction (the Nevada side) and was parked up in the valley floor with my buddy and wondering around looking for it.
After a while I stopped somebody and said, 'Excuse me, can you tell me where El Capitan is?'
'There' he said and pointed straight up.
We were at the base but it was so sheer it was difficult to tell.
I felt like an idiot.
Half Dome is amazingly beautiful.
The most scared I have ever been in a car was in Yosemite, I shall share it when I have time, but I've a client waiting!
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
