match didn't really go the way I thought it would. I think Uruguay is done now....
I'm not qualified to comment on tactics... I admit that... but the way Uruguay plays defense with a lead makes me shake my head. They will never get away with that again, against France... and one could say they shouldn't have today.
Being a fan of Italy I've seen a stress on D and seen it work... but I don't think I've ever seen a D allow the opposing team to set up so deeply before truly contesting the opponent.
Early in this WC I posted about being a little perplexed at the 'lack of urgency' in teams that were behind... that definitely ended today as Argentina gave it everything they had nearly the entire 2nd half... and in the last 10 minutes or so they were pressing Uruguay like their lives depended on it.
I gained a lot of respect for Argentina. - JamesJM
