The ONLY doubt in my mind, and I'm really playing Devil's Advocate is did he pass the ball laterally or even backward?
The only situations where you cannot be offside are (obviously) when there are 2 players between you and the goal when the pass was made, from a throw-in, when you are in your own half and if the ball was NOT passed forward.
Jimmy, if you think of it like the forward pass/lateral rule in football then you won't go far wrong with offside.
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
