You know me, sstrams, aviation freak. I love airports, and airplanes, although I do admit that on long flights the no leg room thing is not good... and I'm only 5' 6".
I have been known to go to airports, (often), simply to 'visit'. I love everything about them except the food. But I don't go for the food so I'm not put off by it. I have spent the biggest part of a day simply camped out by the runways, (viewing areas), watching the planes come and go.
Nothing mesmerizes me more than viewing the earth from above. I'm that guy who takes his windows seat and instantly sticks my nose against the window - leaving it there until we land. I NEVER close my window. I will use a blanket to prevent annoying others but my window STAYS OPEN.
My last flight from England to the USA a woman two rows ahead of me was doing the same.... we bonded, talked across the Atlantic.
I know precisely where we are, when in flight, and tell anyone who asks exactly what we're flying over at any time... of course, no one ever asks... but I could if they did.
Everyone else on a commercial flight goes into hibernation mode... shutting down, physically and mentally... only coming out of their coma after landing. I'm exactly the opposite.... going INTO a coma after we land and exit the airport.
If I'm outside and hear a plane I look up.. without fail, and watch.
If it happens that I get a 'middle seat'.... and it has, a few times...... then I'm in danger of sexual abuse accusation during the flight. It's NOT abuse... I'm trying to see out the window..... but people can be touchy about laying in their lap. - JamesJM
