He went days without eating, drinking or grooming. I thought...I'll give him one more day. Well, he started nibbling and grooming again. He rebounded for about a week and a half. He looked good BUT started to act REALLY angry. Especially with our other cat. The final straw was when a neighbor's cat passed by our patio and then he LOST IT to the point of panting. I tried to pick him up to calm him and he sunk his fang into the top soft area between my thumb and fore finger. HURT LIKE A SO! He spent the next hour consistently growling. I went to the Vet and talked to an assistant. She said he was hurting. SO, the next day, I did the deed. I sat in my car for 40 minutes in the Vet parking before I got the nerve to get out. The Vet told me that even though his blood work said "No". There ARE under lying forms of feline cancer that are hard to find. I asked what the Vet what he thought. He said I cannot make that call. I looked at my Cat and saw pain. I said "It has to be done". The Vet quickly told me..."Good call." He said even IF we found what the cause was (After $$$$$ of tests) there would be no guarantee that he could be made comfortable.
Where I feel bad....I have seen a lot / done a lot/ gone through a lot in life, being a Firefighter etc. But I could not stay in the room when the deed was done. I regret that.
