That's interesting that you've been hitting the sticks on everything in the house.. Everybody says I'm always picking on them, but it never makes my playing any better..

The guys I've known who REALLY tune their drums actually either use a guitar tuner or have a guitarist, like me, hit specific notes that they'll tune to.. I guess it matters how many toms you have, but I think the times I've helped them, I would hit every 7th or 8th note, and that's what they'd tune to.. But, its been a while, so may be off on how many notes difference per drum..
