I got caught up in it. I had to try, however.
Some things came easy, however. The joy on the faces of athletes from around the world always gets to me, I hope it always does. I think I mentioned that I have some good friends from Norway and they were, obviously, thrilled... and I got to share in that somewhat.
Just quickly, yes... talent level for many of the athletes from the USA seemed down this time around. Agreed about the concentration on the 'new stunt'... which is ok but not if artistry suffers because of it.
My biggest disappointment was the disjointed coverage of Alpine Skiing.... which 'may' be what I like best. I think the lack of USA medals was the reason and I think that for whatever reason TV Olympics coverage has come to believe that we care only, or at least almost only, for the athletes from the USA. I think that's a false assumption.
I agree with you about the overall 2018 Olympics... it was not what most in the past have been... although I was darned proud of S. Korea for their effort and enthusiasm. I think the reason was NBC's coverage, actually... or at least for the most part.
