Well, you could go with..

cheaper tile in the $2 - $3 dollar a square foot range.. area around a tub can't be much more than 50 square feet.. if you do the labor, your looking at, with mortar, grout, spacers, sealer, and tools, probably around $225 to tile each tub.. like I said, you could have the tubs refinished for around $200.. I just saw a local commercial where the actually cover the tub in another substance - and the tile, too.. If you get new tubs, of course, get them installed BEFORE you do the tile lol

I've tiled both tubs here.. its a piece of cake as long as you keep your rows straight.. cutting holes for the knobs is the biggest issue, but not terrible if you line the tile up so that a grout line hits each knob.. if you go with bigger tile, then you'll hafta get a tile drill bit attachment for about $10...
