Is not so much paying for it now but getting it back later. Here in Jacksonville (CRACKsonville, as I often call it) neighborhoods are crashing and burning left and right. Example.... I took over the house I grew up in from 1981 through 86, when I left for the USAF. When I discharged, I rented it from my Mom. Bought it when I married in 1997. In 1982, my Folks poured $40,000 in additions and upgrades. When I sold it in 2002, I BARELY got 80,000. Just 6 years ago, it was worth LESS than what the additions cost in 82. It was at 39,900. It was "fixed" up and back to 70,000. THAT is the story ALL OVER Jacksonville. It's a HUGE gamble to have a nice house. Why I HOPE I can get the hell outta here in a few years.
