Not sure how to put this , but has the Olympics lost a little luster since the collapse of the Soviet Union and East Germany

they were always the bad guys , and it wasn't just the USA against the USSR , it seemed like it was the whole world against the unstoppable USSR

the ever ongoing drama if so and so were going to defect to the west ,or were those East German figure skating judges going to cheat

maybe luster wasn't the right word , and maybe drama is a better word ,

although Russia is back in the news with thirty some of their athletes being banned for doping controversy

and James , I hope you're wrong and 90% of the coverage isn't all snowboarding
