Can't argue that, '79.. I had nothing but Marantz from my first receiver that I got for passing Confirmation class in 8th grade, to the system I ran up until about 15 years ago, or so.. I have a total Marantz tower - receiver, CD, cassette, tuner, and graphic EQ.. I just haven't used them in years.. I won them in a display contest around 1982 when I worked for Disc Records.. I need to fire it up and see if it still jams.. I LOVED the sound of that thing.. I don't listen nearly as much to music since I swapped that system for the existing surround sound.. Don't get me wrong, the Nakamichi is FIRST CLASS, but without an external graphic EQ and whatnot, music just doesn't sound as good.. I know Marantz went to crap for a while - so glad they made a comeback..
My current speakers are all Klipsche except for the Center Channel, which is a Polk Audio.. The only reason I Went with Polk was because I got a great deal on the biggest, baddest Center Channel speaker I'd ever seen..
I have a huge soft spot for Nakamichi.. Its too bad they don't make surround sound receivers anymore.. I'm really digging what I'm seeing from NAD, tho.. If I don't go Denon (per Ramsrule) I'll probably go NAD.. Probably this model here:
