I have visited it many times.
I was wrong.. although.. SOME shots were filmed in Tahoe area - I just can't remember which.
Here's another heartbreaker - and seeing as you are very much like me, Mama, you won't be pleased with this either -
Universal City Studios - while still a VERY active studio, is today mostly a "Theme Park". With rides and such. Never the less... the backlots do still exist. As do the Sound Stages for so many old TV shows that to list them all would take up a novel. But here's the heartbreaker... today if you take the tour they mention almost NONE of those old TV and Movie classics.. preferring to mention ONLY that which is current. This last tour I took I was looking over at all the rotting wagons that were used in the original "Planet Of The Apes" and the guide didn't say a word about them. Gilligan's Island is not mentioned. JAWS is only mentioned because the animated shark is still working. The only 'classic' I remember them mentioning is the "Psycho" house.
So what that means is you walk through sound stages where the Munsters was filmed, Leave It To Beaver, Kojak, and not word about them from today's guides. (possibly there are better guides).
Ah, I did forget one classic always mentioned... the City Hall Clock in "Back To The Future".
