taken this last Sunday as our Rams put the hurt on Arizona.
Nearing their destination - my family hiked about 800' up to reach a formation of rocks we wanted to explore. This was a fact finding quest to be followed up by a far more thorough expedition to discover Native American artifacts. Here they stand with only one more ravine to cross before reaching the goal... some rocks never before explored, (to my knowledge).
Just beginning their trek they pause on their trip to the rocks. Looking back down and out to the rest of my ranch.
Interesting story here - Richie, the kid in the sweat shirt and my oldest grandson's teammate, hails from Houston - city born and raised.. he had never seen anything like this. He was in awe, and also terror... (on guard for rattlesnakes, mountain lions, wild boar, pretty much anything that moved)
The destination - the rocks, or part of them anyway. Lot of caves, washouts, hidden crevices that could hold lots of treasure. My family can just be made out standing in the same place as the above photo where I mention 'one more ravine to cross', (dead center of photo)
Back down at a place we call "The Bathtub"... or "Natures Shower". About waist deep... good to clean off in after a hard day.
About 3/4 the way up and turned looking back down and out. This photo shows most of my ranch, (obviously with a lot of acreage hidden from view). Lot of wildlife but sadly few deer who have been decimated by the proliferation of mountain lions in recent years. Did see some wild boar - who had moved out of this area but are now returning. Many coyotes, of course. Nea caught a small water snake. Quail in abundance, doves as well. Didn't see any badgers, bobcats, but they are aplenty always.
