I rarely get phone calls. And if it wasn't for telemarketers, etc. I wouldn't use it as a phone very much. Its basically a way for my wife to reach me... so for the most part not a fan. lol
But having a kid, I love having a camera (and video) everywhere I go. I use it like a computer but I don't like typing on it either. At ne point I almost bought a tablet and was going to use it as a "phone" but it I never moved forward on that. I also listen to a lot of books on tape, mostly non-fiction. I love non-fiction lol.
I really do feel uncomfortable without it if I am not at home... Love it for waiting rooms!!!
Oh and so I watched Muscle Shoals. And it was really good. Super-interesting. The Swampers! I think the "magic" lied somewhere between them and the Rick Hall. Even beyond the musicians and mixing, there was also something ethereal about the recordings.
After that I watched a documentary on their initial recording process... and omg I can't believe they got anything recorded at all... Rick said when they wanted more volume (like from a guitar) on the tape they moved the speaker closer to the microphone... They said recording was an arduous process. lol oh my. For "echo", they said they used the bathroom for the acoustics. So no one could use the bathroom if they were recording.
