My wife and I have never been there, although I would like to go. We did rent a mountain cabin in Ellijay Ga. which is on the opposite side of the Chattahoochee National Forest from Helen.
The next time you go up that way, if you want peace and quiet...those cabins around Ellijay are great. We were right on the Ellijay river.

Yesterday, my Wife and I returned after 4 days there. It was our 3rd trip in 5 years. We LOOOOVE it! It's a touristy town but we checked out Dahlonega Georgia too. We have had SERIOUS discussions about retiring in that area.
