No matter what kind of shark it is you know to get out of the water if they make a pass on their side and their eyes are closed. The Tiger is the warm water great white and there are many attacks in Hawaii each year. They just don't want to advertise it. If your there on vacation go to a local freediving spearfishing dive shop. If they are honest they will tell you "stories".
yeah, I've been going to Hawaii once or twice a year for the last ten years..timeshare in maui and mom has condo on big island....I am well aware of the Tiger shark attacks. Maui was hit hard a few years ago where there were like 11 attacks in one year. It seems like most of the cases the person was alone in murky waters at the wrong time of day to be out alone in murky waters.
There are several videos on Instagram with divers swimming with tiger sharks...it seems that the sharks are very friendly and very cautious creatures one they know you are aware of them.
