I've been rooting for them since 1967. Mays, McCovey, Marichal, etc. Back then, I thought, how on earth could someone pick the
Dodgers over the Giants in baseball!! Felt the same way about anyone choosing some team over the Rams and the Lakers.
Yeah, the Dodgers look pretty unstoppable, and my Giants have fallen off the edge of the earth. Not liking the future for them, either, especially because they're saying they don't need to rebuild, just reload, basically. IMO, the Giants should trade as many of their older players as they can, for the best prospects possible, rebuild, rebuild their minor league teams, and just deal with a few years in the desert.
Apparently, they think they can compete with the Dodgers and Nationals
next year. Not gonna happen. They lack power, their pitching is no longer what it once was, and they've been trading away good prospect for old-guy rentals for so many years, they don't have a farm system anymore. The Dodgers beat them there as well.
They
did have a great run, though: 2010, 2012 and 2014. And the Dodgers can't claim that. But the future is looking pretty bright for you fans of the former Brooklyn team. Not so much for those of us who pull for the SF Giants.
