and maybe the ONLY one: when I'm in the law library I can copy something and immediately mail the document with my signature to another attorney, court, etc. Same with medical stuff that needs an immediate transfer. Just yesterday we wanted an extra key for a pool cover-something that few key makers can make. We found the cover manufacturer and they had three types of spares and were several hundred miles away by now. We photographed the key with a smart phone and sent it immediately to the key maker who had spares of that particular key and now they are in the mail. They are also very useful on long drives as their GPS apps are far more accurate than the ones in the car. No need for those auto club maps that when you unfold them they take up the entire car and then you can never fold them back. And if you suddenly want a Starbucks they have an app that will direct you to it. So its the ability for an immediate transfer of important information that makes it worthwhile to me.
But being addicted to them is where I try and draw the line. I.E. I don't turn around and drive home in a state of panic if I've forgotten my phone have I ever taken a selfie.
