Earth, that is. Physicists LOVE telling us that. They get giddy when saying it. But is it true?
If I understand the theory of relativity correctly, about a 1 in a quadrillion chance, then the earth being the 'center' of the universe is actually true... "relatively" speaking. Actually, any point in the universe.. including all of us as individuals, can make the same claim and be correct.
I'm sitting on my office chair at the moment... and you, and the rest of all matter in the universe, is moving around ME... the center. Is that not 'as true' as any other 'center point'?
Can't wait to get shut down on this... but you're better be good. - JamesJM
Unless the universe is finite with a shape.
Then there's an edge.
If there's an edge then only the center is the center. Not every point within it.
Besides, if it's infinite, then it's just as true to say that nothing is the center as it is to say everything is.
As for your desk chair thing, for each individual, they can only perceive things relative to their own position. That's not the same as a genuine mathematical center. You can say, but it seems that way in terms of my perspective, but that's just as true of everyone else. That's the same as saying the earth looks flat when you look at it from your own vantage point. Okay, but...it isn't.
