Perfect accompaniment to every scene in the movie. I give it 5 stars... it joins, IMHO, the brilliance of the soundtracks to "Local Hero" and "The Way". Mark Knoffler and Tyler Bates.
The scenes from Hachi's point of view were, as you say, amazing. I especially loved the way the 'colors', 'music', showed how differently Hachi saw the world as compared to humans. Visibly this was exhibited best by the game of 'fetch'.. but that 'theme' was dominant throughout the movie. In the end.. to me anyway, it was Parker who adapted rather than Hachi... you might say Parker 'lost himself' to 'find himself'... thanks to Hachi.
Interesting anecdote: When I was reading your post about this movie yesterday, and made the decision to watch it, my daughter had just sent me a photo in text... precisely at the time I was reading your post. She had taken Ashton and Elijah, (my grandsons), and my granddaughter, Sydney - down to a nearby canal... WITH, their two dogs Rocco and Roxie. Rocco is a chocolate lab, Roxie is a Siberian Husky. Now if you know those breeds you are aware that Lab's are known for their love of water, Siberian Husky's not so much.
Ashton was especially 'laughing' about the adventure because it was the opposite... Rocco, the lab, and still a pup, was scared of the water. Roxie dove in immediately. The point being: You never know... and the best part of owning a dog, or any pet for that matter, is accepting them for who they are.... which is precisely what happened in "Hachi". - JamesJM
