Came into tonight undefeated in tournament play so we had TWO games to get it done... didn't need two.
My grandson, Ashton.. top of the 6th, (only 6 innings in 12 yr old baseball), with 2 outs hit a hard grounder between 1st and 2nd for the game winning RBI. We held them in the bottom of the 6th to preserve the victory.
There are two 11 yr olds on the team.. DJ and Ashton. Behind in the top of the 5th DJ hit a double scoring 2 too tie the game.. then Ashton, in the top of the 6th, got the single to drive in the go ahead run. LOVE those two boys.. they've been together in sports since forever ago, it seems. DJ is about a week younger than Ashton but a year behind him in school. Every year they "COME THROUGH".
Coming up STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS... winning district is an automatic qualifier.
