7 on 7, it was humbling 21Dog... :)

To say the very least.. it was humbling.

The entire team played poorly... receivers dropped balls, ran poor routes... but that's no excuse for Gavin who did his own part in the calamity that was our first 7 on 7 today.

It was the 'speed' of the game that got to him the most. Many, many times he was unable to get the ball off in the allotted time. (recorded as a sack, loss of 5yds). He did sustain a few drives, (very few.. maybe three inside the 5 drives).. and another couple they drove the ball well then dropped 'in the bread basket' passes for TD's... AHHH, but Gavin contributed, no few interceptions.

My summary.. it was GREAT practice for him, perhaps the best ever. Humbling? you bet. But he took it in stride... didn't give up, and that's a very, VERY good thing.

Played an interesting team, (to me anyway), that I'm going to watch closely this year. Mt. Whitney. Perhaps 'one' superstar... but actually I wouldn't quite go that far with him although he was very good... VERY tall, always beats the defender for the ball when it's high. But it was the athleticism of the players... most 'in shape', quick, but quite small... players I can recall seeing at the High School level. Yup, a good, powerful, defense may crush them but I don't know... it was like watching an entire team of receivers that ARE Reggie Bush quick. It was like a swarm of flies.. you can swing all you want but you aren't going to connect.

Didn't get to see any other teams... we were in the consolation round but I had to leave to watch another Grandson's baseball game.

Gavin's got a long road ahead of him to get up to speed... but he seems to have the 'will', and no better way to start than the way things went today. - JamesJM
