On my way to the Dante Club I stopped by football practice and watched my grandson throw a few. He did great, better than great, actually... all with the varsity.
As you probably know, 'reading between the lines' of my posts, I have been more than a little worried about Gavin moving up for this tournament. It's a huge leap up. I was expecting a 'more' than humbling experience for him. Today I'm a bit more confident.
I only saw him throw 7 passes... but 4 were for TD's. 2 quick hitters, (RB in flats and the Z on a hook). The last a 15 yarder over the middle to the Y. So he was 7 for 7 in completions. It won't be that good tomorrow.
City/County Game: Got a report from one of the coaches, Kerman guy. He says our OL is very good. 1 'great' RB but not much depth. No word on the QB... it's actually a kid that came through our youth football program but moved on when he knew he couldn't beat out our current varsity QB.
My oldest grandson's county all star team is taking the day off from practice to visit Valley Children's Hospital - - to talk with the kids and hand out some small gifts. A truly great thing, IMHO... and I've noticed that all the all star teams these days, all sports, are doing more and more of that.
Very strange to be so involved with football at this time of year. And baseball continues as well. Even basketball. - JamesJM
