For many years that was the story - that her mother molded her from clay and that the Gods granted her life
Then about 3 or 4 years ago D.C. Changed it up... it was revealed that for all of these years the Queen had lied to her and that her father was actually Zeus.
In that same story line she battles Ares and defeats him taking his mantle as the God of War. So I believe right now in the comics she is the God of War ... at least she was up until about a year ago. I haven't been reading comics as much so I'm not sure where they are right now.
There was a great story line where Lois Lane is killed and WW and SM become a couple - they battle Doomsday, the New Gods, and even General Zod and Zora

Huge Fantastic Four fan. They were my favorite growing up. I heard FOX is selling their rights back to Marvel. Maybe Marvel can get it right. So many of the Marvel villians come out of the FF. Galactus, Dr Doom even neutral characters like Submariner and Silver Surfer... Luke Cage Powerman. Lol
