Being grandparents are just so special in one's life that I often feel bad for good friends of ours whose children have -for whatever reason- decided on not having children-or maybe just waited-for whatever reason-too late. Both miss out on so many treasures like you have just experienced. I asked Barbara once-"if you could of changed one thing in your life what would it have been" ? She replied: I would have wanted another child (we had one). You're right-I am a very emotional guy. My wife is losing her very dearest friend in the next day or two to cancer and our home is filled with tears-but not the tears of joy you have experienced. Life gives us joy and sadness and we simply move forward- because what else can we do. Congratulations to your grandson -and to you for the ability to tell a story with such profound emotion. Good luck to him in the future.
