I've been delayed 8 hours two times - both coming home from Mexico.. Now, everyones gonna say, "that's so awesome - getting stuck on the beach for 8 more hours".. No, getting stuck in a nasty airport in Mexico for 8 hours.. twice! Once they had to fly a guy from Dallas TO Mexico to fix the damn plane... On a different airline! No seats on the way back, so the mechanic stood up in the isle the whole flight.. I know I gave him a standing ovation...
Coming back from Atlanta in February, it was 1pm and the flight was supposed to leave at 6pm and they announce sit was going to be late.. how do you know? The plane hasn't even left the city its coming from yet that's two hours away.. Every 30 minutes they pushed it back a few more minutes.. We finally were onboard and starting to back out from the gate at 8:30.. We hadn't gone TEN feet when a kid right across the isle from us PROJECTILE vomited all over his row and the entire isle, even nailing the guy next to me in the isle seat.. It was so bad they had to return to the gate to get a crew onboard to clean it..
Now get this.. 30 minutes to clean the plane.. The crew leaves.. we stay still.. pilot comes on the PA and says, "we need to replace the fuel we used backing up earlier".. it was TEN feet! ..and why didn't you replace the fuel while the crew was cleaning Mt Vesuvius's throw up all over the plane? So, after another 30 minutes we're fueled up and ready to go.. but we don't... the pilot gets back on the PA and says, "well, we were supposed to be in the air 3 hours ago, so we don't have a land crew to push us back since technically we're not supposed to be here"... All of this with a 12 pound almost paralyzed Beagle under the seat in front of me..
I'm like, ok, why didn't you round up a land crew while they were cleaning Mt Vesuvius or AT LEAST while they were refueling? You can't make this stuff up.. But.. at least I didn't get involuntarily drug out of my seat while getting my face caved in..
