He was touring with a band called Intimate Acts for several years when he got the offer to audition for Blackfoot..
Soooooo... I get phone call from Tim,
"Hey Stever (SIC) can you learn these Blackfoot songs on bass and teach them to me so I can audition?"
"Why sure, Tim - no sweat"
So, I learn the tunes (the bigger tunes they did plus most of the newest CD at the time, Medicine Man) and teach them to him and he gets the gig.. Rickey Medlocke, the leader of Blackfoot who now plays with Lynyrd Skynyrd who used to call me frequently when Tim was playing with him, even told Tim he got the gig because of his looks.. So, as a "thank you" Tim gave me a "thanks to" on their CD "After the Reign" that was released during Tim's reign with the band.. I think it was that CD, anyways.. I'd hafta go look to make sure lol
A hard of hearing bass player that is pretty so he gets the gig.....damn pretty people, it ain't fair.
Man, I could sit on the porch and listen to these types of stories all night....There is a base worker here who was a radio disc jockey in Athens Ga. When he comes to class that I am teaching he and I sit and talk during breaks about music. He knows so much, like you, based off your experiences. I enjoy hitting that memory trail....thanks for sharing that.
