Kiss Alive, Frampton Comes Alive, Boston, Cheap Trick at Budokan, AC/DC were all party favorites.. That was the 70's..
In the 80's things changed quite a bit.. All the bands being signed were ALL pretty much doing party anthem type tunes.. Whitesnake, Poison, Ratt, Cinderella, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Dokken, Guns n Roses, Motely Crue, Warrant, Slaughter... they were all putting out party music and I can't really say there was one LP that stood above the rest..
I'll think about it some more and try to narrow down at least an LP per decade!
Sounds like we're contemporaries, SST.
Good choices. Kiss was definitely popular, as was Boston -- the first album. Same with the others you mention. Crazy that Cheap Trick were massive, major stars in Asia, much moreso at the time than here -- if memory serves. Late 1970s for Budokan? Was in college then. They had Beatles' like devotion from their fans, live.
