Any of you who have read my 'music' posts over the years are more than aware than I'm not going to answer that question... I don't have "A" favorite... I have many. I have several, however, that 'rise a bit above'... and in an even more select list - some that 'rise a lot above'.... So the song I'm about to name I wouldn't call my 'favorite'... I would say there is no other I appreciate more.... but I'm going to add that:
Even those songs I like, love, as much, and perhaps 'more'... none is as perfect as this one. From top to bottom, from any angle you look at it.. the most perfect song ever recorded, written, performed, is:
"What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.
Now I'm not going to go off on a rant, I hope anyway... but one of my pet peeves are 'great' songs redone... stop trying, please. You can't improve on "What A Wonderful World"... you can't. In this case, I would add, you cannot only not come close but in trying you commit blasphemy. There are other songs like this but this one brings that home as well as can be done.
Ok, had my say... I would like to hear you 'name' your favorite song. And if you're like me, and can't, which I think would/should be most of you... understand that - I understand.... pick one anyway. - JamesJM
The Beatles, all by themselves, created several of my all-time favorites.
Hey Jude; Let it Be; While My Guitar Gently Weeps, among so many more. Brilliant!! Love McCartney's solo,
Maybe I'm Amazed as well.
Etta James'
I'd Rather Go Blind is just about perfect, and few come close to her version, though Beyonce gives her a run for her money in the movie,
Cadillac Records. Rod Stewart's version is great too -- back before he went "top forty."
And then there's Bobby Darin's
Beyond the Sea. Just too cool for school.

To name a few . . .
