I haven't posted anything because I usually don't like attention over stuff that isn't cool.. but, I know a few people were keeping up with my situation, so here's an update:
I had surgery in Dallas last Wednesday Nov 2 at Baylor University Medical Center.. Dr David Barnett, the head of the neurosurgery department, did the honors.. He fused C3-5 and added all the associated hardware/screws etc.. Spent the night at Baylor, did the 140 mile drive home the next day..
Low points: I got a ton of fluid in my lungs, so have had a brutal uncontrollable cough since I woke up in recovery.. Not cool with a 4" incision in my neck and a somewhat fragile fusion trying to heal.. I also had the WORST sore throat I've ever had.. still battling that a bit, but is much better.. I have to wear a hard plastic neck brace for 4-6 weeks - 2 weeks while sleeping, which is just horrible.. Sleep has been extremely difficult and i'm getting maybe 3 hours a night..
High points: The morphine pump i had during my overnight stay.. I have GOT to find me one of those somewhere!
Anyways, can't do ANYTHING for 30 days.. no driving, no lifting, no nothing.. So, I watch TV, then get online.. then watch TV, then get online.. over and over and over.. Watching the Rams blow it in a neck brace in severe pain with a bad cough sucks even worse than watching them blow it when you feel good.. Adding physical pain to the experience just sort of "felt right" tho..
Anyways, thanks to everyone who's put up with my whining the last few months..
