Yeah I loved playing tennis.. I do often wonder if playing tennis that hard for years at an early age had anything to do with my current issues, tho.. but, will never know that..
The last time I played with regularity was in college - freshman year - just to get a PE credit.. I started getting into it and our class coach, who was also the varsity team coach, wanted me to try out for the team.. We had a class tournament at the end of the semester - it was MEGA cold outside.. I was playing the final match and served and heard a crack... the other guy returned the serve and I took a huge swing at the ball... and watched the head of my Davis Classic III fly off into the net.. At that time, it was the only racquet I owned, and being jobless due to school, wasn't going to be able to buy another one.. So, that effectively ended my tennis comeback..
About ten years ago I bought two new racquets - Yonnex something or others.. Got two because my intent was to play tournaments and needed a backup racquet... BIG difference racquet-wise because tennis and racquets had changed over the years and I had never played with a large head like that.. When I was playing competitively we still played with small, wooden racquets - like the Davis Classic II and III.. so, big adjustment there.. I was hitting on a backboard every day right up until one of our vacations.. When we came back from vacation, I just never picked a racquet up again.. I still have them both, so if I ever get my neck fixed, hopefully I can start swinging again.. racquets, that is..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
