they are going to spend money on big FA pitchers. Friedman has failed miserably at most of the starting pitchers hes signed to date (Maeda being the exception)...we're going to owe Kazmir/McCarthy in the neighborhood of 28-30 million next season if you can believe that. Luckily for Friedman he inherited Urias, DeLeon, and Brock Stewart. I think there is a good chance that 2 of the rookies are in the rotation next year with Urias obviously being one of them.
As for this series, Maeda and Blanton were a major reason that we are in the NLCS, as they helped in carrying the team while Kershaw was out, but both haven't performed anywhere their regular season form. I think that they are probably both completely gassed. If the Dodgers somehow made it past the Cubs, I'd seriously consider picking a different 4th starter. Every Maeda post season game has turned into a "bullpen" game, and that just can't happen in the playoffs, especially when you have a very over worked bullpen to begin with.
We got our 2 best pitchers going in these next 2 games with a rested Kenley waiting in the wings. As has been the case for much of the year, their offense is very spotty. If we can put up even 3 or 4 runs in each of the next 2 games, we gotta shot. Fingers crossed...
