or 'ditch' water skiing. We did this often, during my teen years.
Hook the ski rope to the back of a pickup and ski in a ditch. Turns, needless to say, had to be quick. More than a few times the result being cartwheels over the ditch bank and into the cotton field.
One of the things I truly missed during my youth was the opportunity to build and ride down a hill a soap box car. Oh I built them, but living in the flattest place on earth there were no 'downhill' places.... we did have a concrete ramp used to load heavy equipment but it was only about 3' high so the 'thrill' just wasn't there... meaning, we had to hook up the soap box to a pickup.
Yup, if you're thinking that hooking things to the back of a pickup was our primary source of entertainment - you would be right. - JamesJM
