when creating scenes intentionally meant for the violence, IOW... became the focus of the movie rather than the characters, or the plot, or anything else? That's how it came off to me.
Like you I felt it was very well acted, filmed, and the plot was good... just ignored too much IMHO. And yes, it was too much for me... but I'm a big baby today.
Sometimes, often actually, I'm watching a typical action move with bodies dropping like flies but ignored completely by the characters or the flow of the film and I'll just shake my head and think, "wow, that guy/gal, just lost their life... their LIFE... not even a nano-second of "That's tragic?".
