I greatly admired Selma's offense, (our opponent), who did it 'the old fashioned' way.... that is to say:
High School teams nearly always have and rely on one, 2 or 3 if they're lucky, great talents who opponents simply can't stop. Selma didn't really have a 'stand out' kid like that.. but they were solid top to bottom. And during the game there weren't any break-away TD's, by them.. no very long TD runs or passes... but they moved the chains every drive...
At half time I was in awe of their 1st down success... I don't think they got less than 6yds on any 1st down in the first half. And they were 'prepared'... very few mistakes. No mis-snaps, for example, and which you see quite often in the early games of a season. I think they'll go far... BUT... they will face some teams with that 1, or 2-3 outstanding players. - JamesJM
