Lots of advice

since I'm going through the same with my left shoulder from lifting weights also. First of all go to an orthopedist if your life style is being affected. More likely than not they will recommend , after x-rays-an epidural shot (cortizone=steroid) to the area and that should give you some relief. My pain came back after a few months so I was prescribed physical therapy which I'm presently in. Unless you've got some bones floating around up there surgery normally is not an option. Keep in mind rotator pain is normally in inflammation due to the narrowing of the bones from age. Its often called Bursitis, tendonitis, etc and it all the same. If the PT doesn't provide relief then my next step is an MRI to see what's really going on and not seen on the x-rays. Only then does some surgical procedure become an option if necessary.

Good luck.
