Friends from all over the USA are today posting photos of the first day of High School Football.. and tomorrow youth football. It's 'wear your game jersey to school' day.
So players have their jersey's on and cheerleaders are in uniform as well.
The two in this photo are my youngest grandson and his best bud at football games through all their many years, (not that many years). For the little girl it's her first year 'cheering'. For my grandson... following in his older brother and older cousin's footsteps it went like this:
"you can play this year Elijah, you're old enough"
Elijah, "uhhh, no"
"Are you sure? All your friends are going to be playing"
Elijah, "no"
"When the games begin you'll be by yourself in the stands"
Elijah, "no"
So even though Elijah is in a jersey he's not playing this year... the jersey is in support of his oldest cousin #8 for the Varsity. Elijah likes tossing the ball around in my front yard, even 'tackling'... but the rigid schedule of being on a team ain't for him, not yet anyway, if ever.
So I think my point here is: Opening day of the football season ain't just for the players.
So any of you spending this evening like me? Football stands, sno-cones, hot dogs?
Go #10 JV's, (my grandson won the starting QB position)... and GO #8 Lions WR.
