No question swim races are far less of a spectator sport than the track and field. One reason is they are -for the most part -submerged. And it doesn't make for good tv either because you need a 3d tv set to distinguish the middle lanes. The overhead camera from the ceiling is good but even then you need to know who to follow and which lanes they are in. But that's just swimming. Always has been and likely always will be. I've been to literally hundreds of swim meets with my son and now his daughter. It's become a way of life-that and my grandson't ski racking.
