I had the honor for over a decade of rebuilding the real thing at Hill AFB Ut, in the 2952 CLSS Squadron. What a great aircraft.

This morning, I was glancing at a site that has old plastic models for sale. I came across a Hasegawa 1/72 F4 Phantom that my Brother bought. Thing is, I recall VIVIDLY the day he bought it...around 1976-77. I remember riding my bike with him to our local Hobby Shop. I remember him being interactive with me as he bought it and the paints and some supplies. Gave me advice on what were the good paints to get and such. We rode home and he immediately started it. It turned out REALLY nice. WELL....I stopped in my tracks this morning, closed the lap top and just started thinking back to that trip and then got a STRONG urge to hop on my bike and retrace our trip 40 years ago. From where I live know, it's about a 5-6 mile trip just to get to our old neighborhood. I got up, hopped on the bike and did it. What is weird, it was overcast just like 40 years ago. Even though the old Hobby Shop is a vacant store for rent and even our old house sits vacant and for rent, I was not depressed as I did the ride. I'm glad I did it. Sometimes my Brother not being around comes out of nowhere and punches me in the gut. The ride made me feel much better.
