Many years ago when they turned the songwriting over to Peart they instantly became twice as good.

I saw a documentary where Geddy Lee talked about that. Lee is such a quiet and modest guy in interviews that is was funny to hear him say this.

Paraphrasing: He was really smart and was always reading books so we thought he'd be pretty good at writing some stuff.
