1. mega contracts for scrubs......I believe a bench player for Orlando signed an $80 million contract.
How are teams going to build depth and resign their better players if the 8th rotational guys is making a fortune.
Curry makes a paltry sum in comparison now as he didn't hit the big window. You thnk he is going to be happy making less than many on his
team when he is due?
2. The window is small, but superstars can go to great teams....like Durant to Golden State. This is horrible for the game. OKC is now in shambles
as they think Westbrook will be gone. Teams like Orlando and Sacramento, Minnesota....don't have a prayer of signing a great player. Why go to Sacramento when you can go to GS or other top tier teams and make a fortune.
3. Competitive balance....yeah right. Golden State wins 72 games and signs one of the best players in the NBA. They said it was like Magic Johnson signing with the great Bulls teams or D. Wilkens signing with the 85 Celtics. Basketball is different than baseball as only 5 players start and about 8 players play.
Having 4 Superstars is a huge advantage.
4. Yes ratings are way way down. Sure everybody watched the championship, but nobody is watching Phoenix play the Bucks or the Nets play the Pelicans . Ratings lowest in decades. If you don't believe me Google it.
Instead of 1 or 2 mega years of cap space, the NBA should have spread it out over many years. There will be some major rule changes very soon to create competitive balance again and help restore poor ratings.
