but that's ok.... I'm toughing it out..... and the slow progress, (so far), hasn't killed my motivation. Granted, it's going to take a LOT longer to get back to where I want to be... like months longer... but while at first, when I first started to get back into shape, I doubted it was even possible at my age.... today I can see that it's possible.
I've always set goals... for each year, (back when I worked out regularly). MOST of the time that goal was a backpacking trip.... this time I'm following tradition.. backpacking trip.
My goal is from the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada's over Bishop Pass, Thru Le Conte Canyon, over Muir Pass, Thru Evolution Valley... and out at Florence Lake. Maybe 50 miles so not far at all but definitely a lot of climbing at high altitude. 6 Days I figure, that includes 2 days of acclimation at around 7,000' before trying to get over the higher elevations.
The bad news- won't be this year... Covid-19... PLUS... won't be in good enough shape before the risk of bad weather sets in. No problem... next summer it is.
This is Muir Hut on top of, obviously, Muir Pass... my goal. I've been here twice before. This time, if things go as planned... I'll be with 3 grandsons... on their FIRST ever 'true' backpacking trip.
