So, I've used the same pedal board for guitar for 18 years.. I custom built it to my own specs and design and its performed flawlessly for 18 years.. a pedal board, for those who don't know, is a board that you mount all your guitar effects on that you can control by stomping on the on/off switches on the pedal.. All the effects need power, so it includes adaptors and power cables etc along with patch cables to link the effects all together..
But then I get a wild hair.. I got 3 new effects and 2 of them are fluorescent painted.. wild hair idea on the loose.. Why not rebuild the pedal board with plexiglass so that's its see-through, mount black light strip lighting inside it, pin stripe the entire thing in lime green pin-striping, and have the most bad-azz pedal board ever known to guitarists world-wide?
Shoot yeah!
So, I ordered the plexiglass, black lights, pin-striping and new metal corner brackets etc.. and its all came in today I just got through cutting the plexiglass and will start working on the structural integrity of the board (plexi is not as tough as 3/4 inch plywood, so I gotta reinforce it to basically withstand me standing on it..) then mount the lights, the pedals and whatnot and PRAY the black lights don't create a buzz through the guitar signal.. I'll post pics when its done.. Here are pics of my old board that's being rebuilt.. I also ordered lime green vinyl that I'll use to make fluorescent sst lables for the front of the board like the chrome sst label on the old board..
The sad thing is: for the most part, nobody will see this board except the band onstage lol.. although it should be easier to find when the smoke has filled the stage - sometimes it gets difficult to hit the right pedal when its completely covered in smoke..
My old board with the old pedals on it:
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
