The true sign of Spring

what , you are asking yourselves is the true sign of Spring

Song birds singing.............nope

Trees budding..............nope

Flower blooming...............nope

Butterflies returning ..............nope

all good answers but.......................nope

after a long brutal Winter , were after the last six months you didn't leave the house unless out of necessity

Parents with young children begin to meander down your street , with usually one of the youngest children learning to ride her bicycle for the very first time

the icycle she probably got for Christmas four months ago , but could never really use because of the six feet of snow

but now , the snow is gone , the roads are clear , and dad having to pull the young girl on the bicycle because she has run out of steam by the end of the block

and as I sit here watching this young family pass my house at a snails pace , I'm reminded of just how many children I've seen learn how to ride a bike on this very street , me included

and I smile ,
